Nifty Adventures and No Accidents...

This week...

  • Thomas and I celebrated 5 months of wedded bliss. We have now been married longer than we were engaged!
  • I continued training for my new job as a clinical supervisor at a DDA company. It's only part time. They are letting me market music therapy services to their clients so hopefully that will take up the other part of my work week.
  • An assisted living facility said that I could do Music Together classes at their facility! Yay for old and young people making music together!
  • I made something from pinterest that looked worthy to put on pinterest, and it was delicious!
  • Thomas and I became addicted to the show "Eureka." At least I have, but I can't watch it unless he's with me which is a problem.
  • We went to the temple and met someone who was a mission president in my friend's mission and is the brother of Thomas' mission president. We also saw 9 other people that night that we knew. Random!
  • We watched some fantastic youtube videos. These are our favorites.

  • We woke up on Saturday with nothing exciting to do and we ended the day on a boat at the lake. I don't think people understand how much I LOVE boating. It's the happiest place in the world for me!
  • and because no blog post is complete without pictures, here are some picture's from my mom's birthday a couple of weeks ago...

Marriage Conversations...

Thomas: I wasn't aware of anything that you were doing this morning until you said that you were leaving and then I thought, 'But I love you. You can't leave me!'
Me: I was just telling you that I was leaving and that I would be back later.

Me: I don't think that wheat grows that tall.
Thomas: I've seen movies. I know things.

Thomas: You have lost a few pounds. Your face is more acorn shaped.
Me: As opposed to chipmunk shaped?
Thomas: (thinks about it for awhile) "Well, yeah, I guess so."

Thomas likes to get a reaction out of cashiers. He says that he feels like it's his duty to make their mundane job a little more interesting. This happened in Target the other day:
Thomas: I'm not paying for your stuff.
Me: Your card is easier to get to than mine.
Thomas: You were already halfway to yours.
(Cashier looks slightly concerned/confused)
Me: I'll use it to buy my stuff. It's my card.
(Cashier looks even more concerned)
Thomas: WELL IT'S MY MONEY!
(Imagine a middle-aged, brunette, Target employee with this face)

Me (to the cashier): It's okay. We've talked about this before. We will be fine.
Then we walked out of the store while the cashier had this look on her face:

Thomas told me to totally disregard anything that he says while we are in line at a checkout stand.

Unexpected week...

Monday
My sisters (minus 1) came to visit!!!!!!!!!!! I picked them up and the first thing we did was go to the chiropractor. The chiropractor said that he was very impressed with how they entertained themselves. Then we went swimming with Thomas' family. While we were swimming Thomas called me and said that his work schedule changed this week but wouldn't tell me what it was. While he was talking to me he showed up at the swimming pool! He has the whole week off except for tonight and tomorrow night. Anybody want to come and hang out with me so I don't freak myself out in my apartment all alone?!

After swimming Brenna 1 (my niece) stayed with us and spent the night because Brenna 2 (my sister) has been dying to play with her. It was a fun night filled with Just Dance and a movie! When it was time for bed Thomas brought out our spare mattress and this happened:
Brenna 1, "Does that mattress have springs?"
Me, "Yeah."
Brenna 1, "Ugggggggggggh!"
Me, "Hahahaha....well someone's a little entitled."
Brenna 1, "I just really don't like springs."
Makayla has never made juice from frozen concentrate before. I was shocked! Brenna said that she would help though.

Tuesday
We went bowling, got a frosty and a movie (Epic!)

We got a frosty parfait, a normal frosty, and a frosty in a waffle cone.

At the movie Brenna and Makayla begged for popcorn, so I bought them some. Last time I didn't buy Brenna popcorn this happened:

About 5 minutes after the movie Brenna spilled her entire bag of popcorn on the floor! FAIL!

That night Thomas made us dinner...chicken with potatoes and carrots! Delicious! While he was making it he brought some potatoes over for me to try. Makayla was freaking out because she wanted some and Brenna said, "Just calm yourself down."
We told Makayla that if she wanted some potatoes then she could go and get one herself. brenna promptly got off the couch and got one herself, then made it back to Makayla's seat and took it before Makayla got back.
While we ate dinner Makayla asked what a thug was. Thomas replied, "They live in West Philadelphia, born and rasied. On the playground is where they spend most of their days..." He continued on for awhile. Makayla was very confused. Then she asked again. Thomas said, "A cruise, a bruiser..." Then I said, "A born and raised loser." I didn't really mean it, but it sounded good.

Wednesday
Thomas' birthday...and the anniversary of our first kiss!!!!!!!!!! The girls wouldn't let him out of his room until they decorated the apartment with crepe paper and balloons. Brenna put signs up with the crepe paper. She made Thomas read them all. I made strawberry swedish pancakes for breakfast! I am now a pro pancake flipper! Brenna ate 10 of them and Makayla ate at least 8. They were hungry!
Around 4:00 we met my mom to take the girls home. They wanted to stay with us because of our swimming pool and Disney channel. They just use us!
That night we went to a sushi place for dinner and then had an amazing cake (a whole lot of drama went in to making that cake!) I had a mini break down while making it!
I gave Thomas a book that he wanted and my mom gave him an XBOX game. I think he likes my mom's present more. Oh well. There's always next year!

Thunderegg Days and the Lake...

Last weekend Thomas and I went to Thunderegg Days in Nyssa with my family and is family. It was a great night! I saw people that I haven't seen in years! I tried to get Thomas to do karaoke with me but he refused. Rude! When we left Thunderegg Days we showed Thomas' family some of the farm. While we were there this happened...

On Saturday we finally went boating!!!!!!!!!! We went to Cascade Lake and it was freezing. I spent most of the day in a sweat shirt and had my legs covered. I still managed to get the worst sunburn of my life. I don't really know how that happened. Sometimes the water was so rough it wasn't even fun to tube. I still got to wakeboard and tube. It was a fantastic day!

Good people and the spirit...

Lately I've been seeing posts about having faith in humanity restored and knowing that there are a few good people left. I believe that most people are good, not just a select few. Yesterday Thomas and I went to a fundraiser softball tournament for a girl in Nyssa who was just diagnosed with cancer. I love her family almost as much as my own...without her and her mom (and a few others) my reception would have been refreshmentless and not decorated nearly as well. I was so impressed with how the people of Nyssa came together in this family's time of need and helped them. All of the teams in the tournament paid a fee and there was also food being sold. All the proceeds went to the family. Last year another person in the community needed assistance after a terrible accident and everyone helped out. I love it!

Last night we went to the a baptism of a boy in that same family. After his baptism he was confirmed and given the Holy Ghost. I love hearing the words, "I say unto you-receive the Holy Ghost." This is such a special gift. The Holy Ghost can comfort, give strength, give direction, give warning, and many other things. I love feeling the companionship of the Holy Ghost in my life when I am living the way I should! The Holy Ghost is one of the best things I have in my life. The video below is of Elder Bednar speaking about the Holy Ghost. In his talk he quoted the prophet Joseph Smith. The prophet said, "baptism is a holy ordinance preparatory to the reception of the Holy Ghost; it is the channel and key by which the Holy Ghost will be administered. The Gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands, cannot be received through the medium of any other principle than the principle of righteousness" (Teachings: Joseph Smith 95-96).

The Beginning...

This month marks three significant events in my life.
Two years ago this week I moved to Boise! The last two years have been very unexpected with numerous new experiences. Most of it has been amazing! I have made great friends, worked with fantastic people, and married the greatest guy I know!

Last year this month Thomas and I went to the drive-in with some friends. While we were there we were texting other people. He was texting another girl and I was texting another guy. During the movie we talked a lot. I started thinking that he was way more awesome than any guy that I was dating, and I was way more awesome that any girl that he was dating (thus began the idea that I should date him, but I never thought that it would actually happen!)
Last year this week Thomas and I became fake engaged. We were at Red Robin celebrating a friend's birthday. He came in late and sat by me. Everyone had been saying that he was in love with me, but I didn't think it was true at all. We just flirted all the time because it was fun not because we were ever going to actually date. I don't remember why but he said that he was always asking me to marry him and I was always saying no. I said that I had never rejected him, but if it was going to be official than he needed to give me a ring, so he did! At this time I did not think that we would ever actually get engaged!

Day 2...

Welcome to day two of my summer break. No work except for music therapy for 10 weeks and I've never felt so accomplished! I've been cleaning, reading, organizing, and tons of other stuff! I need a job or more music therapy clients though. I think this might get old after a week or two.
Last night Thomas and I went to Albertsons. As we were walking in I said that I needed more pasta in my life. Luckily for us there was a crazy 8 sale! All the pasta was 88 cents a package!
We won't need more pasta for a very long time!
